Customs

D.L.Couch has years of experience assisting customers in implementing custom designs and has performed custom work for some of the nation’s largest firms. We have a team of professionals ready to walk you through the entire process, from concept to production on both wallcovering and textiles.

Change the construction on existing product?

If you need to change the performance characteristics of a design we can do that. We can perform width, weight, backing and coating changes to many of our designs. A standard Type II wallcovering can be converted to a Type I or Type III depending on your performance needs. You can combine the texture of one design with the print from another. D.L.Couch also maintains an archive of embossings beyond what is offered in our standard catalogs.

For textiles, custom options include reverse weaves, weave downs, base cloth changes on printed items, and adding or removing finishes.

Need to order an item that has been discontinued? Many discontinued items can still be run as a custom if tooling is available and minimums are met.

In addition to these custom services, many of our patterns can be microvented to make the product more permeable. Microvented material is commonly used in areas of high humidity or areas with high moisture. Click here for more information on microventing.

Change the color of an existing pattern?

Are you not finding that exact color match with just the right shade in our existing product line? D.L.Couch can take any one of our existing designs and color it precisely to meet your needs. Send us a color chip, fabric sample, carpet sample, or anything that has the color you are seeking and we will start working on creating that precise match.

For color changes on woven textiles, the most effective method is to match color to another soft good sample (carpet sample, yarns, another fabric, etc.) For color changes on vinyl upholstery, paint chips or Pantone colors are acceptable.

THE PROCESS

Step 1: We work to find a match for our client’s custom color or substrate change.
Step 2: A custom strike-off is created and sent to the client to review.
Step 3: Client signs off on strike-off sample or orders another round of strike-offs.
Step 4: Production begins on client’s custom material.

Create a custom design?

This may be as simple as changing the scale of an existing print or as involved as taking a concept or idea and translating it into wallcovering or fabric. You can take any one of our prints and make it a larger or smaller scale to fit your needs. We also have a team of professionals that can take your idea or design scheme and create artwork options for you to review. We will walk you through the entire process from the idea to the delivery of a truly custom design for your space.

THE PROCESS

Step 1: Customer is provided with a CAD/PDF strike-off
Step 2: Customer signs off on design or orders another round of paper strike-offs.
Step 3: A custom strike-off is created on actual material and sent to the client to review.
Step 4: Client signs off on strike-off sample or orders another round of strike-offs.
Step 5: Production begins on client’s custom material.

For larger customs, ask us about stocking options. All customs are non-cancellable, non-returnable. Custom minimums vary depending on product. Please contact our Customs Team at 800.433.0790 ([email protected]) or your local sales representative for more information.
