A Simple Task
  1. Record the number of feet from floor to ceiling (height). Then record the length of each wall to be covered (width). (Round inches up to the next foot.)
  2. Add the width of each wall together to give you the perimeter.
  3. Do not deduct for windows and doors.
  4. Multiply the number of feet in the height by the perimeter of the room. This gives you the total number of square feet you need to cover. If you have this information, you can determine the number of linear yards of wallcovering you’ll use.
Please Note: These yardage amounts allow for waste caused by trimming and a pattern repeat. A ten percentage waste factor is a good figure to consider; however, a matching pattern with a large repeat would require additional material compared to a textured pattern without a match. All customers should be aware of the pattern, width, and match before submitting final figures. The calculator we’ve provided is for estimation only. Contact a D.L. Couch customer service representative for assistance in determining exact yardages.
