Responsibility

Understanding the effects of beauty and creativity on the environment.

Some of your clients will ask right away. All of them will ask eventually. Here is what amounts to our tip sheet about wallcovering, from an environmental perspective.

First, we're committed to reclamation: D. L. Couch offers the first vinyl reclamation program that turns stripped-off vinyls back into durable, commercial wallcoverings.

We also want to make it clear: vinyl is not the environmental evil that some people conclude without even looking into the facts (and we provide those facts below).

Wallcovering can contribute to LEED points for project certification. Here, for reference, are many of D.L. Couch eco-friendly products: sisal, grasscloth, papers, organic fibers (linen, cotton, jute), silk and rayon (cellulose-based fiber) are all biodegradable when properly disposed. Kenaf, paulownia wood, and bamboo are examples of wallcovering manufactured from easily renewable resources that are widely available and quickly harvested. And non-PVC wallcovering such as polyolefin and Scion (non-woven Nano textile substrate) are available when high performance is required.

Use of these and other DLC products support USGBC/LEED criteria.
